This week we have received a very special stay at our Hotel in Pamplona. There are many pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago who stop and eat at our "abode". Each one with their history, their experiences, their motivations ... They come alone, as a couple, with friends ... and, on rare occasions like this, IN THE FAMILY and with children included.
Los Encinas had always had the “bug” of launching into the “Compostela adventure”, and a family affair has given them the strength and motivation to do it all together.
"The experience is helping us to strengthen family ties," says Jose Luis, spokesman for the Malaga family for this interview. For parents and children, the Camino de Santiago is a unique experience in which to have fun and share confidences.
But it is also helping them to learn about life through the experience of other pilgrims. Jose Luis explains to us excitedly that “El Camino” is giving them a lot on a personal level, meeting people from other origins and with different vital objectives. "We are very surprised by the strength, especially mental, of those who make the Camino de Santiago in solitude, because of how hard it can be at times".
Planning and slower pace to do the Camino de Santiago with children
Of the eight family members who travel, two are under the age of 15 (an olé for them!). And from what they tell us, the young pilgrims are doing great! In fact, they have left summer plans that they had planned to accompany their parents on this adventure. "The important thing is to find the right rhythm," explains Jose Luis. “We have divided the stages. We do 16 km a day and take days off to visit towns, cities and places. Today, for example, we are going to the Nacedero del Urederra ”.
His anecdote to remember ... ingenuity to power!
It has always been said that necessity sharpens ingenuity, and this is a clear example of this. This family has discovered a way to solve the traffic to the beginning of the Camino de Santiago and from the end of the road to their homes. In addition, it allows them to be prepared for their unexpected return, from any point, in case of emergency!
“We travel with our own van. Two of us go every day with her to the arrival point, park her at the accommodation provided and hitchhike back to the starting point, where we are waiting for them to start the journey. So we have the van at our disposal at all times ”.
