SANFERMINES, AN UNPARALLELED PARTY
BED4U 28/02/2014
Surely you have heard a thousand stories about the Sanfermines , watched a running of the bulls with emotion from the sofa at home and even visited Pamplona on occasion. However, you have not yet seen Pamplona flooded by the "spirit of San Fermin" in the first person.
And it is that really something special happens between July 6 and 14 in Pamplona . Something that must be lived at least once in life. Although be careful, the Fiesta de San Fermín hooks!
On the 6th, before 12:00, you can breathe nerves, excitement and excitement anywhere in Pamplona, both in the crowded Plaza Consistorial and at the bar of a bar in the old town. Everyone looks attentively at that balcony , from where the explosion of the rocket announcing the holidays is expected, and when the moment arrives, everything expected begins .
Thousands of people from all over the world mix with the people of Pamplona to experience Sanfermines to the fullest. And it is that all, with the typical white dress and the red scarf around their neck , dress the streets of the city in white and red for 9 days.
Nine days of joy, music, camaraderie, tradition and non-stop party. The troupes, brass bands, peñas and concerts take care of the latter. Only the world-famous running of the bulls manage to put a note of tension. Every morning at 8:00 a.m., with the newspaper in hand and after the chants to San Fermín asking for his blessing, the bravest prepare to run in front of 6 bulls and 8 halters along 849 meters at an average of 20km / hour and with the premise that you never know what will happen. The most cautious can always admire them from the sidelines or rent a balcony to see this unique show. (Something that, by the way, we can help you achieve!)
After the long-awaited day 6, comes day 7 , the day of Navarra's copatron, San Fermín . Tradition and folklore come to light with the procession of the saint, the dances of the Giants of Pamplona and the races of the children escaping from the Cabezudos and the Zaldikos . In addition, not only this day we can witness traditional festive activities. Each day we will have to choose which appointment to attend: the dantzas in the Plaza del Castillo, the Riau-Riau, the Alpargata Dance in the Main Casino, the Dianas at par in the morning, the parade of bailiffs and mulillas, the pipers and txistularis… and many others. More than 300 scheduled acts have to do with music.
One of the daily events with the most spectators is the International Fireworks Competition . Every night, at 11 pm, thousands of people flock to the Vuelta del Castillo gardens to enjoy the fireworks explosion over the Citadel of Pamplona and its walls.
Nor will we fail to mention certain events that have taken hold in recent years. The Jazzfermin cycle, the unpredictable Pamplonés Rumble or the Encierro de la Villavesa (as we popularly call the urban bus here). In addition, every day, at any time, it is mandatory to go out into the streets and be surprised. Batucadas, mimes, jugglers, magicians, musicians and dancers of all styles await their audience. Something that is not very difficult for them!
And so, with a waste of joy and desire to live this unique experience, the days go by. Everything came to an end on the 14th with El Pobre de Mí . Although many say goodbye at dawn on the 15th with the last confinement, that of the Villavesas, the Poor of Me gathers the vast majority at midnight. With a candle in hand and singing the popular song “Poor me, poor me, the San Fermín festivities are over”, it is time to say goodbye to the festivities. However, the chorus of "now there is less ..." will also be repeated several times. For the next San Fermín!
